Wage Garnishment Automation
Wisconsin and ADP are working to automate the entire wage garnishment process. From the initial issuance of the garnishment, through the employers' responses, to the payment of the debt, this process will encompass all aspects of this currently paper intensive, manual process. Learn how this process will work and how other states can take advantage of it.

Despite states' best efforts to encourage voluntary compliance, enforced collection actions are sometimes required. Often taxpayers subject to these actions blame the taxing agency for their failure to comply. Murphy v. NCAA
The US Supreme Court in 2018 overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) which prohibited states from allowing sports betting within their borders. While the ruling focused on sports betting, the implications may have much larger impacts, including federal limitations on states’ taxing authority. This presentation will discuss the effect of this landmark case.

Text, Chat and Email: Communicating Securely Using 21st Century Tools
Gone are the days of conducting business strictly through snail mail. As our customers become more mobile and tech savvy, their expectation is for government agencies to follow suit. This is an interactive breakout about current communication methods, methods we see emerging, and methods that seem impossible today, but may become reality in the near future. We will take some time to identify and discuss successes and roadblocks while keeping in mind the confidentiality of taxpayer information.

Getting a Revenue High - Best Practices, Lessons Learned in Taxation of Legal Weed
This session will take a look at Colorado’s experience with legalized marijuana. As the first governmental jurisdiction to allow for the legal sale of recreational marijuana, Colorado did not have a guidebook to draw from; rather it was through extensive stakeholder interactions, the use of common business principles and an openness to accepting this new industry that allowed Colorado’s launch of legal marijuana to proceed in an almost seamless fashion. This session will explore the strategies employed by the State of Colorado to implement the will of its people. There will be a focus on what went well, and lessons learned.
