Award for Taxpayer Service and Education for State Tax Administration

PURPOSE:

The award is presented to the revenue agency that demonstrates an effective approach to both defining needs and solving the challenges facing taxpayer service providers. The award recognizes the importance of public service to the mission of the revenue department and is intended to encourage innovation and sharing of new ideas among agencies.

ELIGIBILITY:

Eligibility is limited to members of the Federation of Tax Administrators.

SUBMISSIONS:

Nominations must be submitted by the chief executive officer of the member revenue agency. The nomination consists of a complete explanation of the program discussing the nature, purpose and content of the initiative, along with its impact, strengths and weaknesses. Any background analysis on work done to target the need for assistance and/or education should also be included.

Preference will be given to programs that are targeted in nature (those that address a particular group or specific tax action). Entries will be judged on the basis of factors such as originality, transferability to other agencies, effectiveness, and impact. Special consideration will be given to programs that make use of technology, reduce taxpayer burden, promote voluntary compliance, include any mechanism for measuring results, or feature a FedState component.
